We are thrilled to announce that our founder Ronnie Benbow has been nominated in Qld for The Australian of the Year Award. Here is a message from Ronnie :

“I am deeply grateful and humbled that I have been nominated for the Australian of the Year Awards for 2021. The calibre of nominees are outstanding, so I am overwhelmed to be included amongst such inspiring people. Ever since I was a young naïve nurse, I have always been concerned about unpaid family Carers that get very little support to care for themselves. I used to dream of having a healing haven where the carers could come and restore their own wellbeing to prevent health crisis breakdown and connect with others in similar situations. It seems to have taken a lifetime however I finally realised that vision when I established The Carers Foundation Australia in 2015, in honour of my beloved father after he passed away. We have had so many Carers attend our wellness programs with significant positive outcomes, that have been life-changing and often lifesaving. The Carers Foundation Australia is the only charity that provides vital wellness programs at no cost to Carers, to prevent health crisis breakdown. We are no longer government-funded, so all our resources come from grants and fundraising activities. I will continue my plight to advocate for Carers of all ages until they can access adequate support nationally. We have outgrown our current facility and COVID19 has amplified so many issues for Carers so consequently the demand to ‘care for Carers’ has increased exponentially. Therefore, we are now focusing on developing our new essential Healing Centre to provide more vital wellness programs for Carers, so we can expand our reach nationally to support more Caring families. We are 5 years young this month and have only just begun, so moving forward we will be seeking more support to assist more caring families.”
