The hardest thing about being a young carer isn’t helping out around the house, it isn’t the cleaning and cooking meals. It’s the isolation. Being a young carer means none of your friends understand why you can’t go to that party, why you’re so tired in class, why you’re always so stressed.
If it weren’t for the The Carers Foundation I’d still feel isolated. If it weren’t for the young carers program as part of the Carers Foundation, I’d have never learnt the healthy coping skills I have today. The Carers Foundation may not be the biggest foundation, but it’s made a huge impact on me and other kids like me, and for that I’m so grateful.
