Darren is one of Australia’s most accomplished vocalists, a Gold record selling recording artist, gifted musician, dedicated songwriter, the wizard of vocal looping, an avid painter and renowned vocal coach.
After Darren was invited to be our opening act for our annual fundraiser “Unsung Heroes” he was deeply moved by the stories and contacted us the next day to be involved in any way he could.
“I was truly honored to open the Unsung Heroes event for The Carers Foundation at Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane. Initially, I thought my role would begin and end with my performance—but the night turned into something far more profound.
Artists don’t always stay for the entire evening, but I found myself deeply moved—sharing a meal, dancing, and, most importantly, having my heart cracked open. The video package featuring carers’ personal stories, the powerful speech by CEO Ronnie Benbow OAM, and the inspiring message from Mayoress Nina Schrinner brought me to tears. I had no idea just how many selfless individuals in our community dedicate their lives to caring for loved ones.
The next morning, I called Ronnie and asked how I could help raise awareness and offer my support to these incredible human beings. It is with immense gratitude that I accept the role of ambassador for The Carers Foundation. May more people come to know and support the life-changing work they do for those who need it most”.
