The story of The Carers Foundation Australia reached a national audience this week, with Founding Director Ronnie Benbow OAM joining ABC Radio National Breakfast to talk about why she started the Foundation and the often unseen reality of caring in Australia.
Ronnie shared her personal journey and spoke about the millions of Australians who care for a family member or loved one, often around the clock.
One of the greatest challenges is that many people become so consumed by their caring responsibilities that they don’t recognise themselves as carers or realise when they need help too.
This is at the heart of our work.
The Carers Foundation provides programs designed to support carers before they reach breaking point, helping them restore their emotional, physical and mental wellbeing and connect with others who understand the caring journey.
The interview was an important opportunity to bring greater national awareness to carers and the vital role they play in our families, communities and healthcare system.
