2023 Unsung Heroes Gala

🎵Join us for the inaugural Unsung Heroes gala – where we’re ‘Fundraising Through Song’ for The Carers Foundation 🎤💙

Eight inspirational individuals from Brisbane and surrounding areas have taken on a unique challenge. Since last October, they’ve not only been tirelessly fundraising, but they’ve also been perfecting their singing voices under the guidance of Creative Director and Vocal Coach, Lisa Lockland-Bell 🎶

Their efforts will culminate in a live sing-off finale on stage at the Unsung Heroes gala, competing for the ultimate recognition – The Unsung Hero Award.

They aren’t just hitting high notes for applause, they’re singing for a cause. The Carers Foundation, through unique wellbeing programs, supports the emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing of unpaid carers. The aim is to provide consistent, high-quality support to combat compassion fatigue and prevent health crisis breakdowns.

Following a star studded launch event with The Veronicas in October 2022, the singing Heroes have been rallying their networks fundraising towards their collective goal of $200,000.

The ultimate goal is to have a purpose- built facility to accommodate, educate and rejuvenate carers before they face health crisis breakdowns. This would be available 24/7 and be the only centre specifically for carers in Australia.

The stage for this unforgettable evening is Brisbane’s premier live music destination, the Fortitude Music Hall. The gala event will not only feature the anticipated sing-off, but will also include raffles, live auctions, and a delicious three-course meal. Add to that a four-hour beverage package and lively entertainment to keep you on the dance floor.

Let’s come together for a cause that truly sings to our hearts and fundraise through song for the Carers Foundation.

ABOUT THE CARERS FOUNDATION AUSTRALIA

Established in 2015, The Carers Foundation provides support to Australia’s true unsung heroes – unpaid family carers. These selfless people give up their own lives to care for their loved ones with a disability or illness, often with no choice.

Founding director Ronnie Benbow OAM has always had a burning passion to support Carers since she was a young nurse, when she identified that Carers had worse health conditions than the person they were caring for.

Ronnie saw firsthand the impact of caring when a 15-year-old boy that was caring for his mother (who had experienced a massive stroke), took his own life as he could no longer cope since he was alone and unsupported.

Since then Ronnie has been working tirelessly to support unpaid family carers by providing preventative wellbeing programs with the purpose to avert mental and health crisis breakdowns from compassion fatigue.
